April 2008
Following a three year study on the impact of growth in Hendersonville, the League of Women Voters of Hendersonville focused its position on growth in the areas of transportation and traffic, education, parks and green spaces, and water quality and quantity. The LWVH believes that development should not be permitted to adversely impact areas that are important to the quality of life of residents. Those who profit financially from development of commercial and residential areas should bear the burden for the cost of providing the necessary infrastructure. Citizen involvement and appropriate planning by the various boards and commissions of the city and county are important in determining acceptable commercial and residential growth. Further details are provided in the growth consensus study prepared by LWVH in April 2008.
